1. Who is Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA)?

 

WDA was formed on 1 September 2003 as a statutory body under the Ministry of Manpower. WDA aims to champion and enhance workforce development in Singapore. It co-ordinates the national continuing education training (CET) efforts, and manages the development of the workforce development infrastructure. WDA works closely with the three most important forces of the Singapore workplace: their partners (this includes economic agencies, industry associations, and institutes of higher learning, private training providers and adult trainers), employers and workers. This four-cornered collaboration results in a powerful force to drive the vital national agenda of building a competitive, highly-skilled and dynamic workforce.

 

2. What is the Workforce Skills Qualification System (WSQ)?

 

The WSQ system is a set of occupational competency standards and vocational CET qualifications for adults covering the skills and knowledge required to perform jobs across or within industry sectors. It defines the competencies needed and the levels which they are performed at for various key positions, thus facilitating skills upgrading and career progression.

 

It is benchmarked internationally and developed by WDA using international expertise and local industry knowledge and endorsed by the industry. WSQ is competency based training leading to industry Skills Qualifications. WSQ uses Certified Trainers/Assessors and Accredited Training Providers through WSQ accreditation.

 

3. What is the Creative Industries Workforce Skills Qualifications System (CI WSQ)?

 

The Creative Industries Workforce Skills Qualifications (CI WSQ) is an initiative championed by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA). Together with industry players, it aims to meet the changing needs of Singapore's economy and to enhance the employability and competitiveness of employees and job seekers in Singapore.

 

Encapsulated within the CI WSQ framework are 800 competencies for over 600 creative occupations across the 3 creative clusters: Arts and Culture, Design and Media & Communications.

 

The objectives of the CI WSQ are to:

 

1. Articulate the employability, industry and occupational competency standards for various creative industries

 

2. Act as a guide for employers to plan their staff training and professional development programmes and to assist in their hiring process

 

3. Act as a guide for CI professionals by outlining clear pathways of qualifications and competencies needed for continuing education and training, professional upgrading and career progression

 

4. Guide training providers in their design of training and certification programmes and to ensure greater quality assurance in training and assessment

 

3. Who are eligible for the WDA subsidy?

 

Singaporeans and Permanent Residents.

 

4. What are the criteria to apply for WDA subsidy?

 

- Must be Singaporean or Permanent Resident

- Male applicants must have completed National Service
- Must meet all the requirements of FZD School of Design Pte Ltd
- Must meet all entry requirements
- 90% attendance
- Complete and pass all subject grades
- Complete the program with at least a minimum of all passing grades
- Must work in the industry for at least 12 months after completing with the program

 

5. How much is the WDA subsidy?

 

The WDA subsidy for Tuition Grant is $10,000. The total cost for Singapore PR and citizens (including non-tuition fee) at FZD School of Design Pte Ltd is $40,378.50. With the WDA subsidy, student would only pay $30,378.50 (inclusive of GST).

 

6. Is the WDA subsidy available for all the courses that are being offered at the FZD School of Design Pte Ltd?

7. What type of certification will you receive under the WSQ scheme?


Upon the completion of the program, trainees will receive a Diploma in Entertainment Design certificate. WSQ trainees will receive a second certificate, Diploma in Industrial Design that is endorsed by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency and FZD School of Design Pte Ltd.
